The Africa Development Research and Consulting Group (ADRC) is a research, consulting, and advisory firm which aims to provide research-based advice, technical assistance, and training in development policy formulation and implementation, and project management throughout Africa.
ADRC was founded by Prof. Sylvain H. Boko, formerly of Wake Forest University (WFU), and Research Triangle Institute (RTI International). He is a National Science Foundation (NSF) grantee, and Fulbright Scholar, who has spent more than 20 years researching, teaching, and consulting in international development, with a particular focus on Africa. Through his technical work, and experience advising governments, institutions, and organizations throughout Africa, Dr. Boko came to the conclusion that more research and knowledge-creation must be conducted on the continent, to form the basis for policy-making and implementation, as well as project management. The ADRC is the outcome of these reflections.
Our mission is to help improve the lives of people in Africa by providing research-based and experience-based advice, and technical assistance to governments, institutions, organizations, and companies involved in the continent’s development process.
Our target clients include international donor agencies, international NGOs, domestic NGOs, the private sector, academic and research institutions, and Governments. Our goal is to help donors, and implementers, to succeed in their project implementation efforts, and to maximize their impact on beneficiaries. We also strive to help Governments in the process of policy formulation and implementation. Our staff have accumulated experience with such organizations as the World Bank, the African Development Bank, RTI International, Catholic Relief Services, FHI360, USAID, and ICF International. They have carried out projects and research in Benin, Rwanda, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Cȏte d’Ivoire, DRC, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa.
ADRC’s headquarters are located in North Carolina, United States, with international offices in Cotonou, Benin. This puts us in a position to respond to our clients' needs in any country in Africa.
